Louise Vines Forquer died Monday, November 5, 2007 at St. Mary’s Home at Asbury Ridge. Louise was born August 1, 1917, in Munhall, PA the daughter of Irish Immigrants, the late John Vines and Delia Mullins. Munhall, a suburb of Pittsburgh, was a US Steel town and Louise grew up in a US Steel house.

Louise celebrated her 90th birthday this past August 1st and it was a wonderful reunion for all who were there. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Forquer, in 1978. Louise was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother, Anna Mae (Sr. Brenda Marie Vines), John Vines, Betty Mussetter, Virginia Fisher, and Agnes Bassett. Louise is survived by a sister and brother-in-law. Harold and Louise raised five sons who along with their wives all survive her. She is survived by twelve grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Louise is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Louise was a teacher’s aide for many years from which she always had many fond memories. She was Grand Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America. Louise was always involved in the activities at St. Andrew’s Church and School where all the boys attended. Louise retired from Gannon University. Louise was always involved in politics and served as a Democratic Committee Woman for several years in the old neighborhood on West 11th Street where the family lived and grew for so many years. It is said of the Irish that we laugh at funerals and cry at weddings so we will all be well conflicted this week as a family wedding is set for later in November and will go on with all due celebration. Louise would have insisted on it.

Friends called Wednesday, November 7th, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at the Brugger Home for Funerals LLP, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. Further calling was held on Thursday at St. Mary’s Home Asbury Ridge Chapel from 9:30 to 10 am at which time a Mass of Christian Burial was held. Burial followed the in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Mary’s Home, 4855 West Ridge Road, Erie, PA 16506 where Louise received excellent care or the Sisters of Saint Joseph, 5021 West Ridge Road, Erie, PA 16506.
