Raymond Wayne Renaud, age 87, of Erie, died on January 18, 2010 at his residence. Ray was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 21, 1922.
He was in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1942 to 1945 serving in the Pacific Theater on a light destroyer as the Chief Petty Officer. He graduated from Kent State University with a BBA and a Major in Finance. Ray was the founder and owner of Erie Steel Products and was its President and inspirational leader for over 52 years. He was also active in a number of other successful Erie businesses.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, June Renaud, a grandson, Paul Renaud, his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Ray Burns, and his brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Jane Reno.
Survivors include his four children: Gary W. Renaud and his wife Diane, Carol Renaud Johnson, Glen C. Renaud and his wife Donna, and Paul R. Renaud and his wife Lynn; four grandchildren: Robert Renaud, Katie Johnson, Shane and Rachelle Renaud, and his loving companion Audrey Flanigan, along with other loving nieces and nephews.
Raymond loved his family, enjoyed traveling, hunting and being with and sharing experiences among friends. He especially loved his mother, Wyoma who lived to be 103 years old, and his father Clyde.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Ave., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend services there on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Wayne Augustine officiating.
Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
