Today we celebrate the life of Karen A’laine Collins. Karen went to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2008

Born on March 12, 1959 in Houston, Texas, Karen grew up in The Woodlands. She was a 1977 graduate of Conroe High School and went on to graduate from The University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She then earned her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas and completed her internship at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was extremely passionate about her work as a Physical Therapist. She spent 15 years working with Health South Corp. and was most recently enjoying her management position as an NDT Certified/ Manual Trained Physical Therapist at ORS Physical Therapy Center in Conroe, Texas.

In addition to her Physical Therapy career, Karen sang professionally since the age of 16. Along with her incredible voice, she was also an accomplished pianist and blessed so many lives with her breathtaking, God-given talent.

Karen was beautiful, loving, and she brought such joy to every person’s life that she touched. We will miss our daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and she will eternally be our angel. Thinking of her every day is her Mom (Sue), her sisters (Jan and Susan), her brothers-in-law (Larry, Vince), her niece and nephews (Amy, Jeff, Richard, Kevin, Taylor, Evan) and her many, many friends, patients, and extended family who love her.

The Winter of My Heart

By Susan Collins Giacona for my sister Karen A’laine Collins

My soul is cold, dormant, and dark;

Surely this must be the Winter of my heart.

I pray for peace and warmth from the Son,

To melt this icy pain and let Springtime come.

Though this ache in my heart surely can’t compare

To the joy in your heart when you woke to find you were There.

A promise fulfilled, a place filled with love,

Divine intervention from Heaven above.

Gone are your earthly trials, the struggles, and the strain.

Sweet memories of you are all that remain.

The pain of this world is a thing of the past,

For you’ve seen the face of Jesus at long last.

For you my sweet sister that day has finally come,

Jesus has told you “Well done,

My good and faithful servant, well done.”

When prayers are answered and years have past,

And this icy pain gives way to Spring,

I’ll still always yearn for one more day,

To see your smile, and hear you laugh and sing.

Tributes & Condolences

Mark Evans
on Aug 16, 2008

I will always remember the beautiful voice and how Karen could make a piano sing. I can still see Karen onstage our senior year at Conroe HS when she played the lead in the musical "110 in the Shade." My thoughts and prayers are with the Collins family. Karen was a kind, gracious, and loving person, who will always be remembered.
