About Us

The America’s National Online Memorials Project at AmericasMemorials.com was established by Bruce Baldwin, M.D. in 2007 as the first community-based national online memorial website in America. The project and website are dedicated to preserving the truth, legacy, memories, and history of the lives of the everyday and exceptional Americans who have through their sacrifices and contributions in their daily lives in their local communities preserved the American way of life and made our country the great nation that it is.

In my own case I had a profound desire and need to honor the lives, contributions, and sacrifices of my father and other members of the Greatest Generation whom I have had the honor and privilege to know growing up in my hometown of Erie, PA. They fought for our country and lived decent hard working lives in sacrifice for and dedication to their loved ones, their families, and the welfare of our community and nation. In my mind and heart I am convinced their stories must be told, their histories must be preserved, and they must be remembered with more than a cold gravestone and as an important part of the history of every hometown in America.

All Americans owe an extraordinary debt of gratitude and recognition to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty while serving, protecting, and/or defending the American people in either the U.S. Military or as an officer or member of America’s uniformed public services. Because of this all Military memorials and memorials for fallen police officers, firefighters, and other American heroes are free of charge at AmericasMemorials.com.

It is my great hope that this website and the community memorial web pages within it that are dedicated to memorializing the citizens of local communities across America will become treasured historical assets and sources of pride for those local communities as the personal legacies and stories of each community’s historical figures, heroes, community leaders, famous and/or favorite sons and daughters, and everyday citizens are preserved for posterity.

Sincerely,

Bruce Baldwin
